I'm a professional set designer living in San Diego, California, and I grew up before the internet blew the concept of Six Degrees of Separation out of the water. If you'd like to learn more about my other life as a set designer, check out my website here:

Tobacco Lands

These original images were taken by my dad for his personal photo collection as he was traveling the US gathering statistical data for the Crop Reporting Service of the US Department of Agriculture. He used his own Kodak 35 mm film camera with Kodachrome slide film. He was always especially keen to inspect tobacco farms since he had grown up on one in North Carolina.

The edge of the slide mounting is visible on the jpeg files that I have had made from the original slides because it's kind of cool to keep the images in context, the way you would have seen them projected with a Kodak Carousel Projector onto a screen in my living room, circa 1963.

The colors are true to the original slide image, and Mother Nature has provided a softening of the hues in keeping with the age of the slides. No sharpening has been done--these photos are what they are.

If you find them as endearing as I do, and you would like to have high quality digital copies, please visit my Etsy shop:
